Trip 2 Day 4 Beautiful Russian Sun
Written on 4/22/2008 2:17:17 PM.   3 comments

Today was a beautiful day. The weather forecast we saw yesterday called for snow showers. But luckily the sun was shining and a very cool breeze was blowing. Just perfect.

We started off today going to the our agency's office again. We had to pick up paperwork to take to the Notary's office to get redone. We also needed to clarify the rest of the trip and the days we will need our new driver/translator team. Then it was off to the Notary's office to correct the paperwork done yesterday. Which was kinda neat because the building the Notary is in is very old and I just love the stair case and ceiling in this odd conglomeration of offices, stores, restaurants, and well other things I assume. After this we went to the Delta Airline office. I am a worrier and I just wanted to make sure I had Zach's lap ticket correct before we went to the airport.

Then we spent almost four hours at the Kremlin. It was an amazing day to walk in Alexandria Park and see the city workers getting the streets ready for all the festivities to come. They were cleaning, painting, and planting flowers like pansies all over the planes. We went to the Armory Museum and saw Russia's most precious items. Beautiful Faberge Eggs, clothing, sliver and gold works, weaponry, and other very cool things. Dave and I just keep looking at each other going - that carriage is older than our country. Then we walked around the interior of the Kremlin. I was amazed as soon as we walked up the bridge and under trinity tower right in front of the Arsenal were huge gorgeous red tulips. We walked around looking at the huge Tsar Cannon (1586) and The Tsar Bell (1733-35) just amazing. The best parts of course was the very old cathedrals. One was built in 1475 - that blew Dave's mind. He took a ton of pictures of it. Of course there was another one that was built in 1484, again very old. Then we had a leisurely walk back through Alexandria's Park.

On the way home we stopped for a "fluffy pizza" and water. And just like the first trip the pizza was great. Back at the apartment we waited for our tourist group to bring us our registration for our passports which came around 6pm. Then we headed back out to meet up with Brad and Maureen, our new friends from NY, who had a successful day in court today (YEAH!). We walked up and down Old Arbat Street and compared prices and people watched.

It has been a very long and beautiful day. We go back to see Zach tomorrow!! We are so excited to see him again now that we have the official title of "parent". Keep up the prayers for all of us and for such beautiful weather. This day really spoiled us - we saw all the beauty we have been missing!!

Hope you get lots more sunshine - we've had a warm day here too - it's like summer all at once and I'm full of beans! I've been thinking about you so much and hoping that everything was going smoothly - and it sounds like it is. I can't do any more than hold you in my thoughts. Keep strong and you'll all be home soon! Meantime... enjoy Russia!

Hey I want one of those eggs or even better one of those chickens that lays them. It seems you are having a great time.Continue to learn Dave that other things are out there besides Tigers and rags and orange and he may get educated yet. Continue to enjoy your trip and new freinds. Give Zack a hug for me.

I'm a day late on congrats, new mom and dad! So glad you're having good weather--the part where you wrote about the carriage being older than our country gave me chills. Russia really has great beauty, doesn't it? Again, CONGRATS!!! Sally
