Trip 2 – Day 25 – One Week Down

It has been a full week since we took custody of Zach and all three of us are still standing!! WOOHOO!! Way to go Dilworth Family!!

This morning Dave went to the American Embassy to file our paperwork and received an “invitation” for all three of us to come back tomorrow at 2pm for our exit interview. YEAH!! While Dave was gone Zach and I dressed and played a little. The morning nap was considerably shorter. Zach should have been waking up as Dave got home – but instead he was waking as Dave left.

After Dave was done at the Embassy he came back to the apartment and we finished getting ready. We went and meet K&A and drove to Red Square for a few family photos. Of course – it starts to rain. But, but we got a few cute pictures. Zach is showing the signs of not enough AM nap in most of them!

Then K took us to a book store. HELLO! It was a very nice bookstore right on Arbat that Dave and I have walked by I swear 1,000 and did not notice it was a bookstore. To be honest I thought it was a run down set of shops and did not want to go in and get lost in a maze of little stores that were of no interest to us. Anyway – We got a great map of Moscow – yeah, we needed that 25 days ago. We also found a map of the Moscow Region. We were able to map out where Zach’s baby home was and where we have been to court. Since we were there we had to look at the children’s section. We got a CD of Russian lullabies and fairytales. We also got a children’s DVD.

Did I mention it was still raining at this point? It is. We had to go and find our driver A. He was told by the police to keep moving so he cold not park where he had left us. Can I just say again how much respect I have for our drivers? They just rock and are so good to us!

Back home in the apartment we had our afternoon nap, which went much better than our morning nap. During Zach’s nap it started to poor rain and we even had pea size hail. Thank goodness we were not out in that! So the sun came back out and Zach awoke. We had our yogurt and cookies and then we ventured out.

We meet up with Brad and his precious little girl Karina. Maureen was sick and unable to come. We had a very quick visit and quick walk around the zoo. Zach was not very comfortable in the stroller or in the carrier. I personally think its because he has a crush on Karina. The zoo I am sure has more to offer than what we saw in our very quick look, but right now I am just glad to be back in the apartment.

After we got back from the zoo, Zach was extremely sweet and affectionate. We played clapping and hand games. When I would turn my head to get something or look at something he would put his little hand on my face and turn me back toward him and smile. We kissed, sang and told little stories. Then praise God we had a very good bedtime tonight! How happy is Mommy!! (and Daddy)

We are so happy to be drawing a close to our Moscow time. Apprehensive about the flight home, but very glad that we are so close!

Your little boy has a crush already?!?! Look out Mama! :-) I laughed out loud about getting the Moscow map - that is something we would do! I'm so glad you had such a great week and love that Zach is turning your face towards him - so, so sweet!
