Trip 2 - Day 15 - Blue Skies and Markets
Written on 5/3/2008 1:47:10 PM.   1 comments

Today we ventured out via the Metro to Izmaylovo Market in Izmaylovo Park. We took the metro out - from our apartment to the start of the market it took about 45 minutes. Izmaylovo Market is a large outdoor market with lots of fun booths to look at. We picked up a few little things - like most of our weeks here we just walked around and looked. There were many American's there and of course other tourist, but there were still a lot of natives there. We really enjoyed looking and walking around. I know that Dave was in heaven because he loves "flea market" type set ups. I on the other hand hate haggling for prices, just tell me and move on. I don't like walking away thinking - did I pay to much for that?

Dinner tonight on Old Arbat with Jeff and Maria at My-My's. After dinner we decided to go to Victory Park. It was just as impressive the second time as the first. It was the first time that Jeff and Maria had been and I am so glad they went! There were a lot of people there with a stage set up with "singers," kids flying kites, skate boarders, and people watchers. The blue sky was a beautiful backdrop for the fountains, tulips, and monuments.

We had such a wonderful day, just being together and enjoying this beautiful day!

Not tooooo much longer!!!!!

Side story: Emily Versus the Washing machine SAGA
I think the Master came in today before 3. We were told he would come after 3. I neglected to tell you that yesterday morning I made a very crude attempt at Russian notes to explain to the housekeeper to assist with the washing machine if she could.(Roughly stated: Help! Open! Thank you! - I am a wordsmith, I know.) Anyway, today when we came back from the market on my CRUDE attempt note on top was written: Sorry, tomorrow maybe. Tomorrow maybe?? Do you know how badly I need to have a washing machine? Poor Zach he will smell like sweet Dreft and baby shampoo and we will smell like... well lets just not think about it. So tonight I have sweet talked it and even talked via email to the family that was here last week. STILL NOTHING! This washing machine hates me. Now all I do is wait for this "master" to come again tomorrow.
